Donation & Recycling Guide for St. Louis & St. Charles County
One of the questions I hear on almost every job: “Okay, but where does all this stuff actually GO?” Nobody wants a perfectly organized garage where the donations just live in neat bins for the next five years.
So here’s my working list for the St. Louis area – the places I actually use and recommend to clients, organized by how you’re getting rid of things. I keep this updated, so if a date or a rule changes, that’s on me, not you.
Want me to handle it? That’s part of the job – sorting, hauling off donations, and setting up the pickups. Call me at (314) 805-4859 for a free consult, or see my service areas to make sure I cover your area.
Donate: Pickup From Your Home
-
- Vietnam Veterans of America – Free donation pickups, and their Region 1 program covers St. Charles County, St. Louis County, and St. Louis City. Clothing, household items, small furniture, tools – if it’s usable, put it out front and it’s gone. VVA Missouri pickup locations
- St. Vincent de Paul – Free drop-off for clothing, furniture, and housewares (the Creve Coeur store doesn’t take furniture). Home pickup for furniture runs $39-$69 depending on zip code – worth it if it’s a whole room’s worth. St. Vincent de Paul St. Louis donation pickup
- Salvation Army – Drop-off locations across Missouri. Salvation Army drop-off locator
Donate: Furniture & Household Goods
-
- The Sharing Shed (O’Fallon area) – Local donation center doing real good in our community. Donate to The Sharing Shed
- Habitat for Humanity St. Charles County ReStore (St. Peters) – Furniture, appliances, and building materials; proceeds build local housing. They confirm what they can accept, so check before you load the truck. Habitat St. Charles County ReStore
- Home Sweet Home (St. Louis) – Provides furnishings to families transitioning out of homelessness. Great for furniture and housewares in good condition – check their guide first, they’re picky in the best way. Home Sweet Home donation guide
Recycle: Electronics & E-Waste
That drawer of dead phones, the TV in the garage, the printer that never scanned anything successfully – none of it belongs in the trash.
-
- EPC USA – Electronics recycling at drop-off sites in St. Charles and Wright City, serving the whole St. Louis area. Computers, TVs (about $20 for TVs/monitors), and all those cables – and they run a certified data-wipe on everything they receive. EPC USA electronics recycling services
- O’Fallon, MO electronics & appliance recycling events – Run every other month at the CarShield Field parking lot, open to non-residents too. Most stuff is free; TVs and monitors carry a small fee. O’Fallon electronics recycling event dates
- Wentzville electronics recycling – Year-round program through the city. Wentzville electronics recycling program
- Recycle Works West & Central (St. Charles County) – The county’s own recycling centers: appliances, electronics, batteries, scrap metal, and more (cash or check only, and no alkaline batteries). Recycle Works West | Recycle Works Central
- O’Fallon, MO recycling sites – City-run recycling for O’Fallon residents, plus the single-stream curbside program. O’Fallon recycling sites and hours
Before anything with your data on it leaves the house: factory-reset old phones, tablets, and laptops (it’s usually in Settings under “Reset”), and sign out of accounts first. Takes five minutes, and then you can hand that old phone over without a second thought. Same for batteries – tape the terminals on rechargeable ones (phones, laptops, power tools) before they go anywhere.
Shred: Documents
-
- St. Charles document shredding events – The city runs two a year (2026: June 20 and November 14 at the Ameristar Casino lot), city residents only, three boxes/bags each, shredded onsite. St. Charles document shredding and electronics recycling
- O’Fallon Shred-It Days – Periodic free shredding events for residents. O’Fallon Shred-It Day dates
Check Your City’s Calendar
Most of the towns I serve run their own bulk waste pickups, recycling events, and senior resource fairs during the year – like the St. Peters Senior Resource Fair, typically in the fall. City calendars beat any list I can write, but I bookmark the big ones: St. Peters Senior Resource Fair, O’Fallon bulk waste and appliance pickup
The Easier Way
If reading all that made you tired: I get it, and this is genuinely my favorite part of the job. When we work together, I sort what goes where, set up the pickups, and haul off the donations – you just point at things. Call me at (314) 805-4859 for a free consult.
